MediaTek firmly adheres to the spirit of corporate citizenship and takes concrete steps to support charitable activities. Generous investments in charitable relief, programs for caring for the disadvantaged, support for the arts, and volunteer services, are organized alongside systemic and concrete short-, mid- and long-term goals in the hopes of promoting the healthy development of the society in which we live.

Charitable Donations

Since its founded in 1997, MediaTek has taken the initiative in answering the calls of government and public interest groups with regard to participation in major disaster relief operations. This includes donations in wake of the 921 Earthquake of 1999, donations to the DOH Hsinchu Hospital SARS medical team during the 2003 SARS breakout, as well as charitable donations and volunteer disaster relief following both the Sichuan earthquake of 2008 and Typhoon Morakot in 2009. We are committed to stepping in whenever communities are in need emergency assistance and working to fulfill our company's responsibility and duty to society.

Aboriginal Education Program

There is a saying that goes: “It takes a hundred years to educate a generation of good men and women.” No one would argue against the vital nature and long-lasting importance of education. However, only through the long-term and systematic allocation of resources will the fruits of education thrive. In addition to sparing no effort in the cultivation of high-level research talent, MediaTek can also cite the success of its management experience in the focused and systematic allocation of resources in the primary schools of aboriginal villages. By drafting short-, mid- and long-term plans to upgrade the facilities of these schools and rates of enrollment in higher levels of education, a solid foundational education is cultivated, thereby bringing hope to the children of these aboriginal villages.

"Great Dreams; Realized with Love" MediaTek Volunteer Day

By “taking from the community and giving back to society” MediaTek seeks to implement the concept of corporate citizenship. MediaTek hopes that every one of its employees, stemming from their participation in simple community events, can learn empathy, as well as find more specific focal points through which they can practice love and give back to the community. Since 2003, MediaTek Volunteer Day has been an annual event in which over a hundred employees participate in different volunteer service programs, thereby increasing their identification with various social and civic roles and community commitments.

Promoting Humanistic Ideals - Exclusive Sponsor of Voice of IC Broadcasting's "I love to chat; you love to laugh" and"Dialogue of history" Radio Shows.

Aligning itself with Voice of IC Radio's founding philosophy of “I Care. I Can. I Change.”, MediaTek has long been an exclusive sponsor of the regularly aired radio programs, “I love to chat, you love to laugh”— hosted by former Tsing Hua University president, C.L. Through the power of media, MediaTek hopes that historical patterns, value judgments, and reflections applicable to the modern day man or woman can be conveyed to the public, thus helping foster independent decision making and thinking skills, as well as the active participation in social and public issues. As well, we hope such programs can play a part in the development of civic awareness that stems from the fundamental and spiritual aspects of our lives and, consequently, improve the quality of public life for all.
