The new MediaTek Helio G35 and G25 are gaming-focused chips that take aim at entry-through-mainstream smartphones. In addition to streaming video, mobile gaming is now a preferred passtime for many, which means these two new G-series chips are vital to gamers looking for fresh and affordable options. If you're considering a smartphone featuring either of the two, here's 8 reasons why you should get one:

1) MediaTek HyperEngine: Performance Optimization

MediaTek HyperEngine Gaming Technology is a combination of technologies that go beyond the chip to optimize the whole smartphone. The performance optimization features include intelligent resource management that ensures sustained performance to minimize frame-rate dips, meaning your game never judders when the action gets heavy. It achieves this by dynamically balancing CPU, GPU and memory resources according to power, thermal and game-play intensity factors. Because the system isn't constantly maxed out you also get longer game-play on battery too!

2) MediaTek HyperEngine: Connectivity Enhancements

Smartphones mean gaming on the go, but they're no good if the internet connection is laggy, unstable or unreliable. MediaTek HyperEngine connectivity enhancements provide a faster response between phone and cell-tower, and more reliable connections to ensure you can always stay connected.

MediaTek HyperEngine, however, keeps the data connection active until the call is accepted, so if you want to keep playing instead of talking, the call can be deferred without interrupting your game connection. Both the G35 and G25 combine an octa-core Arm Cortex-A53 CPU and IMG PowerVR 8320 GPU in a 12nm chip. The difference is that the more premium G35 has a higher clocked CPU and GPU, providing a boost in performance. Combined with MediaTek HyperEngine resource management they punch above their weight and deliver great performance and longer battery life.

4) Reliable, global LTE connectivity

The G35 and G25 feature Advanced IMS (VoLTE\ViLTE\VoWi-Fi) that's now supported by cellular operators worldwide, plus global eMBMS and High-Performance User Equipment (HPUE) operating modes. All these improve the user experience, with greater connection reliability no matter where you travel.

5) MediaTek TAS 2.0

MediaTek TAS 2.0 is smart antenna technology actively detects signal quality across the various internal antennas of the smartphone, then optimizes the connection around those with best signal strength.
