Here's what the MediaTek S900 will bring to your 8K TV

We're continuing to lead the Smart TV industry with another industry-defining chip. The MediaTek S900 is our new flagship designed for 8K TVs that'll be hitting the market in 2020. Inside, the powerful multi-core CPU and GPU is paired to a proprietary AI processor (APU). This integrated edge-AI sets the S900 apart, bringing the next wave of smart living into.. well, your living room!

The AI hardware accelerates our new AI Picture Quality engine, which analyses the content in real-time to look for scene characteristics or specific features, such as faces, then carefully tunes the display to optimize areas such as color saturation, brightness, sharpness, dynamic motion compensation and picture noise. So instead of applying a "one size fits all" setting in the TV's menu, our AI PQ engine actively and automatically recognizes and changes the display based on the content shown. One minute your kids could be watching cartoons, then you could switch over to sport, and later watch a movie - all these different medias require actively adjusting the display for the perfect picture.

In addition to innate display quality enhancements, Smart TV brands can embrace new ways of user interaction for easier living, such as facial recognition or gesture controls, voice signature recognition and voice assistants built-in.

Essentially the S900 also supports MediaTek’s proprietary MiraVision-Pro and the latest multimedia standards, such as HDR10+, and connectivity such as HDMI 2.1A, which provides enough bandwidth for 4K120 or 8K60 - great for watching your favorite shows, and the fast refresh rates are ideal for next-gen games consoles too!
