Android Go: Huawei Y3 (2018) powered by MediaTek MT6737

The Huawei Y3 (2018) is one of the first Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphones, and it’s coming to the South African market. The Y3 (2018) is powered by a MediaTek MT6737 SoC, plus 1GB of memory, 8GB of storage and microSD expansion slot – typical specs for a slim and light Android Go phone that focuses on affordability while maintaining a great, entry Android experience.

While the MT6737 is value-orientated it still features a modern and capable 64-bit quad-core, Cortex-A53 processor operating over 1GHz, paired to an ARM Mali-T720 GPU. It brings a highly able WorldMode, Cat-4 4G (both FDD/TDD) LTE modem to a whole new user group, enabling a step into true mobile broadband. In addition, dual SIM (LTE plus 3G) enables cost-conscious consumers network flexibility.

The 5-inch device is available in neutral tones of white and grey, or a more ostentatious gold. At the back an 8MP rear camera features a fast f/2.0 aperture lens, auto-focus and LED flash. Other peripheral connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS location services, micro USB and 3.5mm headphone socket.
