MediaTek M80 5G modem with mmWave & sub-6GHz 5G cellular connectivity

The new MediaTek M80 5G modem combines mmWave and sub-6 GHz 5G technologies onto a single chip.

The MediaTek M80 5G modem conforms to the latest 3GPP Release 16 global cellular standard, as well as offering supreme power efficiency and ultra-fast speeds of over 7Gbps by combining FR1 and FR2 connectivity.

In early 2021, MediaTek collaborated with Ericsson on performance, interoperability, and mmWave beamforming testing between three different sites using Ericsson's commercial-ready 5G radio units.

MediaTek also partnered with Far EasTone to test mmWave technology in a mock-up of a commercial deployment, in typical, real-life scenarios.

These new 5G technologies will feature in a wide range of future MediaTek products, across mobile, home and IoT/Enterprise, giving them the access to the fastest speeds and most comprehensive global cellular connectivity features.
