Smartphone services are adding $150Bn to sub-Saharan African economy

In an interview with CNBC Africa, GSMA lead analyst, Kenechi Okeleke, claims the mobile industry is responsible for creating 3 million jobs in sub-Saharan Africa. By 2022, the GSMA expects the mobile economy to add $150Bn to Africa's GDP.
MediaTek is actively engaging with local operators, smartphone brands and events to enable increasing smartphone penetration across the African continent, which is currently at 44%. Affordable smartphones offer an always available connection for personal use, small or large businesses.
