MT6739 - Upgrading Entry-4G smartphones
The MT6739 is a cost-effective, yet modern-featured smartphone SoC. It delivers a great Android experience to the entry-4G market, and with modern 18:9 display support it allows smartphone designers to create beautiful and desirable, yet value-focused devices.
At its core in the application processor, the MT6379 has a highly efficient 64-bit quad core, ARM Cortex-A53 CPU that operates up to fast 1.5GHz. Its IMG GE8100 GPU operates up to 570MHz and supports a HD+ (1440 x 720) resolution.
Its WorldMode LTE FDD/TDD modem has had several upgrades. The Cat-4 (DL) / Cat-5 (UL) performance has the potential of Dual 4G VoLTE with Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) (or 4G+3G option as well), as it is important to future-proof as 2G networks are in the process of retirement. Meanwhile, new connectivity technologies such as eMBMS, HPUE and 600MHz LTE frequency are all supported, with availability soon as eMBMS and HPUE are currently being trailed or deployed on global networks. MediaTek's TAS 2.0 is a smart antenna technology that improves the power efficiency and user experience by providing a more reliable and consistent connection quality. Altogether this makes the MT6739 an important, future-facing chipset for those looking to make the 4G jump or upgrade from an older, less power and connection efficient model.
Enhancements to its multimedia core allow its 13MP camera shooting at up to 30fps, with dual camera setup options available. Generational improvements to noise reduction technologies, auto-focus speed and accuracy are included, with better low-light AF capability thanks to a new anti-noise filter. Videos can be encoded up to 1080p30 in h.264, with video decoding at 1080p30 also additionally supporting the modern h.265 HEVC codec.
