Working towards Wi-Fi 7 official certification later in 2023 with adoption due to grow rapidly in 2024, MediaTek and Anritsu Corporation have achieved a world's first in wireless testing by successfully verifying the performance and functions of MediaTek Filogic Wi-Fi 7 chips for IEEE802.11be in Network Mode.
The test emulated real device operation to evaluate RF characteristics, and is especially useful for Over-The-Air (OTA) wireless performance tests – including antenna characteristics – of finished products. The test used the data-link layer communication protocol implemented in both the chip and tester to establish communication and evaluate RF characteristics.
The IEEE802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) wireless communication standard is currently being developed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. It aims to achieve speeds of over 30 Gbps by adopting new or upgraded technologies including MLO, 4096 QAM, 320 MHz channel bandwidth, and Multi-RU.
The MediaTek Filogic 880 and Filogic 380 Wi-Fi 7 platforms offer world-leading high performance, exceptional power-efficiency and high reliability for a diverse range of Wi-Fi 7 platforms. Due to the seamless, stable, high connectivity of MediaTek’s chips, their RF characteristics were evaluated jointly under actual operating conditions by using Anritsu’s network mode technology to establish and maintain wireless communications.
