Improving the Mobile User Experience with CorePilot

CorePilot not only enhances smartphone performance but also aims to deliver the best user experience every time. It’s a suite of advanced monitoring, task scheduling, and performance optimization technologies designed for MediaTek Helio processors. CorePilot optimizes everything from casual social media browsing to intense mobile gaming. CorePilot 4.0, efficiently manages all the powerful hardware packed into our MediaTek Helio 4G SoCs.

    CorePilot Technology Evolution

First introduced in 2013 with the world’s first “True Octa-core” processor, CorePilot evolved through four generations to comprehensively govern task management, power-efficiency and performance across a diverse set of hardware resources in MediaTek Helio 4G SoCs.

    Centralized, Intelligent Task Scheduler

By working closely with Thermal Management and User Experience (UX) Monitoring, CorePilot optimizes battery power consumption while maintaining sustainable performance to deliver a consistent user experience.

Based on input from these control mechanisms, the appropriate CPU/GPU cores, clusters, and frequencies/voltages are selected to match the current application load. This ensures a consistent user experience while maximizing battery life.

    CorePilot 4.0

How people use their smartphones has evolved, and mobile devices increasingly do more in the background, requiring a wide range of computing performance. Modern computing frameworks must be nimble – capable of handling this range of tasks with an appropriate mix of computing strength and battery life.

CorePilot 4.0 provides a centralized, intelligent task scheduling solution that can highly optimize the use of the SoC compute resource. For example, it dispatches tasks to suitable clusters/cores with the appropriate frequency and voltage, to minimize power use while still ensuring the expected user experience is met.
