SoftAtHome and Orange Jordan announced the deployment of the world’s first fully prpl-based broadband solution with a home gateway and Wi-Fi repeater, powered by prplWare and complementary SoftAtHome products.
The fiber home gateway platform (provided by MediaTek’s strategic subsidiary Airoha) and Wi-Fi functionality (provided by MediaTek) power the solution, while Airoha’s SDK ensure the prpl software could be easily implemented, enabling it to achieve first-to-market prestige.
Prpl helps operators define, control, manage, and maintain gateway device software environments, while also allowing third-party applications to quickly adapt to the device and platform, providing new service integration opportunities.
The new platform has all the bells and whistles needed by operators wishing to experience the best in chipsets, open source, and value-added software with SoftAtHome. Now that the box has been deployed, operators can benefit from an effective, rich solution at an optimized cost. The best smart Wi-Fi, an optimised monitoring system as well as a rich applicative store are already available.
MediaTek and Airoha are working towards becoming prpl’s official reference design based on a platform of Wi-Fi equipped fiber optical access technologies. This milestone highlights MediaTek’s ongoing efforts to enable prpl-based designs for global operators and partners, reinforcing their commitment to innovation and industry trends.
The collaboration with prpl will allows partners to customize their home Wi-Fi and mesh networking solutions based on open-source standards, strengthening security parameters, supporting remote management, future-proofing broadband networks and preparing operators for the latest advancements in 5G FWA, Wi-Fi, and Open Broadband.
